"None of my paintings are planned out, they appear organically through a web of under-painting. Lacy pools of watery paint, applied layer upon layer, provide the groundwork from which my landscapes, people and creatures appear. They are the players in my place of dreaming."

Imagery evolves from a complex layering of glazes, textures, drawing and printing. There is no preplanned composition or scene, Becky allows her imagination to discover recognisable shapes. Building a composition through negative space, adding and taking away elements to create a surface, that has history and weight, like a favourite old wall of worn graffiti, peeling paint and shredded posters.

Her currents motifs relate directly with her change in lifestyle, becoming a parent in 2009 has brought her focus away from the landscape and into the home. Now drawn to the small things in life, the hidden and secret, the imaginary and fantastical. Painting objects from her childhood combined with favourite animals and abstracted pattern she creates a visual feast to play out your own stories and memories.  She aspires to create imagery that has strength, but is equally fleeting and momentary; using colour and texture to render physical certain aspects that in real life are intangible.
