Personal landscapes

A new artist in our roster, Dee explores the personal 'landscapes' that we construct for ourselves. These are sometimes inner landscapes, subliminal, virtual, intellectual or imaginary.

Increasingly, many of us use 'tags', labels and phrases in the language we use and through the image we portray. The social exchanges we create and encounter are the realities we inhabit. Sometimes these landscapes are fragile or aspirational, sometimes hugely comic. Through drawing, gouache and text, Dee plays out these visual descriptors on paper, canvas or board.

"As a practising artist with experience in other fields, I like to question the solidity and intelligence of our chosen 'spaces'. Are they soothing us or celebrating our uniqueness?"
